Speech delivered by the UN Resident Coordonator Lamin Manneh, on the occasion to mark the inauguration of the Kabyaza Model Green Village located in Nyabihu District, Western Province of Rwanda. The village contains 200 houses given to locals who previously resided in natural disaster-prone areas.
During a special event at Kigali Century Cinema, UNICEF Rwanda celebrated the organisation’s 70th anniversary, as well as 30 years of successful collaboration with the Government of Rwanda and its partners. The event began with a reception at the theatre, uniting UNICEF’s partners and UNICEF staff to celebrate the achievements made together for children in Rwanda. Following the reception, UNICEF offered a special screening of the inspiring documentary on Early Childhood Development, “The Beginning of Life.”
Today, the United Nations System in Rwanda joins the people and government of Rwanda, as well as all other UN Member States around the world, in commemorating this year’s International Human Rights Day.
