The World Health Organization gave support to the Government of Rwanda through the Ministry of Health to organize the Health Week observed between the 13th-18th March 2017.
On Wednesday March 8th, 2017 Rwanda joined the global community in the celebration of the International Women’s Day (IWD). This year’s celebration of IWD in the country was done at Shyira Sector in Nyabihu District. It was graced by the personal presence of H.E.
“Because of their gender, refugee women are often victims of violence and discrimination. This new facility constructed by UNHCR contribute to refugees supporting each other to resolve their problems, strengthen their resilience and become self-reliant, as well as preventing SGBV in households.”
During the Gender Assessment in refugee camps, the topics covered ranged from camp management and environment to child protection and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), education, health, cash assistance, food, self-reliance, shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
