“I am happy to help children and teachers” says Alex, Reading Mentor at the Kanyinya Child Friendly School

Through the UNICEF-supported national initiative dubbed ‘Rwanda Reads’, schools are supported with reading materials to support teaching and learning and promote reading culture through books and other materials. Through this initiative, Kanyinya CFS has received over 1,000 books for their new reading room with lot of space and an enabling environment to encourage reading.

Rweru Model Village will soon be home to more than 400 Rwandans who are to be relocated from Mazane and Sharita islands in Rweru Lake. The Islands were mapped as high-risk zones. With connection to electricity and clean, drinkable water, the Village is comprised of a school, a health post, and a modern market, and has access to Internet connection.

Rwanda: Malnutrition Rates Improve Among Refugee Children

A recent nutrition survey has found that rates of malnutrition have improved significantly in all six of the refugee camps in Rwanda, in part because of the World Food Programme’s intensive work to treat and prevent undernutrition among mothers and young children.
