Human Development

You are here

One UN works with the Government of Rwanda to improve health, nutritional status, and learning outcomes (literacy, numeracy, life skills,) for all Rwandans, especially the most vulnerable within the context of efforts to accelerate human development. Human Development is a concept that goes beyond economic development and income levels, and includes other foundational elements which contribute to a long, healthy and prosperous life such as good health, quality education and proper nutrition. Without available and accessible social services, choices and opportunities for individuals are curtailed, thus limiting the human development of the population. The Government is supported to expand social protection and to empower women and girls in recognition of the importance of human development as a key pillar in sustainable economic growth and transformation
